Description
In solidarity with the Women, Life, Freedom revolution, I designed a series of posters that celebrate and support the powerful movement that emerged from Iran and resonated across the globe. These posters feature Persian typography, with a deliberate emphasis on the word “women” — highlighting the courage, resilience, and leadership of the women at the forefront of the protests in Iran.
“Women, Life, Freedom” is a powerful slogan that originated in the Kurdish feminist movement. It gained global recognition during the 2022 protests in Iran, following the death of Jina Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman who died while in the custody of Iran’s “morality police” for allegedly violating mandatory hijab laws. In Iran, the slogan was chanted in Persian as زن، زندگی، آزادی (Zan, Zendegi, Azadi).
What began as a local cry for justice quickly became a global symbol of resistance — not only for women’s rights in Iran, but for human rights everywhere. The slogan has since inspired widespread solidarity movements, protests, and a surge of art, literature, and activism around the world, amplifying the voices of oppressed communities.
This poster series is my contribution to that movement — a visual tribute to those who continue to fight for freedom, dignity, and equality.

To support the Iranian protests, Theater Freiburg hung one of my posters in large format on their wall.
The posters were carried throughout Europe during the protests, especially in cities like Berlin, Paris, Düsseldorf, Brussels, Strasbourg, Cologne, Freiburg, Hamburg, and others.
